In New York her career saw her working in an investment management firm and public accounting practice. Julia obtained her professional qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland.

She trained in a Big 4 accounting practice - PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dublin. Here, through the audit process, she obtained invaluable exposure through interviewing the top management of multinational organisations and close review and documentation of their transaction processes, local and international financial reporting requirements, and staff management.

Since then Julia has gone on to work for smaller accounting firms specializing in tax, to a second Big 4 practice, to US and European multinationals. She has gained extensive experience in Irish taxation requirements, production of financial statements and process reviews of a wide range of industries, with €2m to €10m in turnover, production of accountant's reports, consolidation of financial statements, and Sarbanes Oxley (controls to prevent fraud and/or error) requirements.

She worked as the financial controller of a European manufacturing multinational with a work force of 69 and c.€74m turnover, where she had sole responsibility for product costing, management reporting, corporate reporting, payroll, capital expenditure analysis, budgeting, planning, KPI recognition, audit co-ordination,WIP and inventory valuation, analysis of financial data, processes, and IT implementation.

Chartered accountants are strictly monitored and have a professional code of ethics. Members are fully insured and are required to comply with extensive continuing professional develpment. Areas of study and CPD are Management Accounting, Taxation, Audit, Strategic planning and information technology. They insist on lenghty study leave, given 3 months study time for the final admittance examination, and along with it's expansive curriculum helps to ensure that the chartered accountant qualification is considered the premium qualification in their field.

This all adds up to a professional who you know is informed and abides by very high ethical standards.
